18100

18100 was the second Gas Turbine ordered by the Great Western Railway, this time from Metropolitan-Vickers. Delivered in 1951, it was painted in BR Black and Silver livery. 18100 was a Co-Co locomotive again with electric transmission. Again, not a great success, it was stored at Swindon Works in 1958. However, 18100 was sent to Metropolitan-Vickers for conversion to a 25kV ac electric locomotive. Re-appearing later that year, it was numbered E1000, but by 1959 it had be renumbered to E2001 and was given a TOPS classification of Class 80. Click here to view the Class 80.

Silver Fox make a one piece resin body of this locomotive. I have this kit, but have yet to build it.
