The Hunslet Class 05's were produced in two versions, the earlier type and a later taller cab version (click here for the later version). This is one of the earlier types and is a Judith Edge kit. It goes together in the usual Judith Edge way, but care has to be taken over some of the finer parts, like the radiator surrounds and window frames. Mine is modelled as D2554 in BR black with the small 'D' prefix that was used for a while.

The model is powered by a Mashima motor and Romford  38:1 gears. Currently a DC model, it will be converted to DCC and have a cab light fitted. Sprung buffers and Alex Jackson couplings are fitted.

Heljan announced at the 2012 Warley Show that they are to produce an RTR model of the Class 05, initially with the taller cab. These models duly appeared in July 2015. Silver Fox have produced a resin bodied version.
