D0260 'Lion' Co-Co BRCW/AEI/Sulzer

D0260 was a speculative venture by a consortium of manufacturers consisting of Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon (BRCW), Associated Electrical Industries (AEI) and Sulzer Brothers for a new generation Type 4 locomotive. Having more than a passing resemblance to the later Brush Class 47, D0260 was finished in a stunning white livery.

Although reasonably successful, no orders were made as by this time BRCW were suffering financial troubles and were not in a position to take any orders.

The first model I made was a converted Lima Class 47 using the Crafstman Models conversion kit. Etched nameplates were from Fox Transfers. It looked the part, but there were detail differences between the conversion and the real locomotive.

Heljan has filled this gap with an excellent RTR model of 'Lion' and it is this version I now run, converted to DCC operation.
