DS1169 Ruston & Hornsby 48DS 4wDM Although the largest locomotive manufacturer, Ruston & Hornsby only supplied a limited number of locomotives to the mainline railways. DS1169 was a Southern Region departmental of the standard 48DS design. There have been a few kits available and my version is the A1 Models kit. Judith Edge now offers a better version with a bespoke chassis offering better running qualities. The A1 Models kit runs in a Tenshodo Spud bogie and additional weight has had to be added as extra ballast to the etched brass kit. Finished in BR green with yellow bonnet front, my version has solid white metal buffers.
