No.1, Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway 2-4-2E

No.1 was built on the frames of an Aspinall 2-4-2T steam locomotive. It had jackshaft drives from the motors to the wheels. Built to the Steeplecab design, it was fitted with two pantographs for current collection on the overhead system used around the Aintree area as well as third rail surface contact pick up shoes. It was built in 1912 but did little work apart from trial running. From 1914 to 1918 it was back at Horwich Works sheeted over and stored in the paint shop. By the end of 1918 it had been transferred to the Southport line to work freight trains, but was not a success. It was withdrawn around 1919 and scrapped in 1922.

I am not aware of any model or kit for this locomotive.
