Peckett 0-6-0ST 'Jurassic' or 'Southam' Class

Peckett of Bristol produced a number of Standard and Narrow gauge locomotives for industrial use. One of these types was a 0-6-0ST running on 1ft. 11½in. gauge track for the Southam Cement Works in Warwickshire. In the event, six locomotives were supplied and were named after the geological formations found in the quarry, namely 'Jurassic', 'Triassic', 'Liassic', 'Neozoic', 'Mesozoic' and one un-named.

Fortunately three locomotives  have found preservation, 'Jurassic', 'Triassic' and 'Liassic'. This type are of particular interest to me as my father worked at the cement works many years ago and remembers these locomotives shuffling back and forth between the quarry and works. 'Jurassic' is currently preserved at the Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway near Skegness.

The 3D printed body out of the box

The body is a 3D print obtained from Shapeways printed in Frosted Ultra Detail, my preferred material. Always a little difficult to see what is going on with FUD until a spray of grey primer has been given.

The recommended chassis is a Lifelike 0-6-0 Dockside locomotive. I have heard various reports about the quality of these chassis, but it appears that there have been several versions of it over the years. The current incarnation of the chassis is meant to be quite good, so to that end I have ordered one. The real locomotive had outside frames whereas the chassis has an inside frame.

Slight differences are present between the three locomotives, so a bit of research and careful study of photographs are needed.
