Ruston and Hornsby 44/48hp 4wDM

Ruston and Hornsby built 147 of these locomotives in gauges from 1ft. 9½in. to 4ft. 8½in. My model is of one of the 2ft. gauge version built in 1940. The body is a 3D Printed body produced by 2A Rail and available via Shapeways. It is based on the preserved 44/48hp 'Midlander' at the Tallyllyn Railway. The main difference being the lack of buffers. It is designed to fit on the Tomytec HM-01 chassis available from numerous suppliers on the web, such as eBay. I have used this chassis before in the Bagnall P51 with good results.

The body option I opted for is Frosted Ultra Detail (FUD), although it is available in Frosted Extreme Detail at extra cost.

The 3D Print as supplied

The 3D Print primed

The body has arrived and been cleaned up. As can be seen from the first image, the translucent nature of FUD makes it very difficult to see any detail let alone try and photograph it! Mind you, photographs are unkind to such small models, this being all of 47mm long! The lower image shows the model with its first coat of Halfords Grey Primer. Now the detail is revealed and the work needed to smooth the print lines becomes easier to see. This is the next job while I am awaiting the chassis.
