Class 141
Pacer, BREL/Leyland The Class 141 was the first of the production series of Pacer's following trials with the prototype Class 140. Built by Leyland Bus in 1984, twenty units were supplied, working around the Leeds area. They were notoriously unreliable and rough riding. A refurbishment in 1988 saw the reliability improve. Withdrawn in 1997, most found further work in Iran. Three units are preserved in the United Kingdom. MTK offered a white metal kit of this class in the 1980's. MTK was acquired by No Nonsense Kits and subsequently by Phoenix-Precision, who were still producing it until recently. My version of the kit is from Phoenix-Precision, but remains to be built.
Class 141 parts for one car, other car identical As with the Class 140, the castings are a little rough in places, some slightly bent. However, a little bit of cleaning up should result in a reasonable model. Various motorising options are available, all based on the Airfix/Dapol Park Royal railbus. These are Branchlines, M. G. Sharp and High Level Kits. Having had good results with High Level, I will opt for their option. |
