DHP 1

DHP 1 Clayton B-B

The Clayton Equipment Company made one other little known prototype locomotive as well as their more infamous Class 17. DHP 1, standing for Diesel Hydraulic Prototype 1, was similar in style to the Class 17, having a central cab with two low nose bonnets either side housing the engines and transmission. The main difference here was that it was a Diesel-Hydraulic. Finished in a cream upper and maroon lower livery, it ran a few trials on British Rail. By this time, problems with the Class 17 and the change of mood over Hydraulic locomotives meant that none were ordered.

At the moment, I do not have a model of this locomotive and none are offered either as kits or RTR. This obviously means that at some stage I will have to scratch build one.
