The LNER purchased a Ruston & Hornsby 3ft. gauge 4wDM in for use at Lowestoft Sleeper Depot. Built in 1944 with works number 224337, which according to the works list, is a 48DL type locomotive. Certainly in BR days, it carried the number 3 and the name 'Monty'.

It was withdrawn in 1964 and sold to A. King & Sons Ltd. of Norwich. It was eventually preserved and last known to be in Leeds in 2013.
