The Class 88 is an electro-diesel locomotive made by Stadler Rail for Direct Rail Services. Unlike previous British electro-diesels, the Class 88 can be powered either by 25kV overhead or a Caterpillar C27 diesel engine. Ten locomotives were built and delivered in March 2017.

The Class 88 is similar in appearance to the Class 68 diesel-electric locomotive.

As yet, no RTR model has been announced.
