Metropolitan-Vickers Class 80 A1A-A1A

The sole Class 80 started off life as the gas turbine locomotive 18100. Click here to view 18100. Not a great success, it was converted to a 25kV ac electric locomotive for crew training purposes on the Liverpool-Manchester-Crewe electrification project. It was originally renumbered to E1000, later becoming E2001. As the production ac locomotives became available, E2001 was made redundant. E2001 finally ended up stored in the sidings behind Rugby Station for many years before being scrapped in 1972.

I am currently building the Silver Fox Models resin bodied kit of this locomotive. There are a few modifications I am making, such as separate wire handrails and working lights.
